All rooms have external entrances sheltered by porticos that allow our guests to enjoy the warm, balmy days and nights of the Alentejo countryside, and moments of much needed reflection and peace.
Everything from natural cooling and heating systems to our swimming pond provide full comfort while minimising your carbon footprint during your stay.
Because of our environmental philosophy, we don't have any single use items that are in plastic such as tooth paste - we do have bamboo tooth brushes on request, and our soaps and bath gel are arrive in powdered form, we just add water and it is activated - reducing supply chain carbon footprint and avoiding plastic disposal.
As we are firm believers that the bedroom is for resting, having a cuppa tea, making love and sleeping, we provide good wifi in the common areas - not in the bedrooms.
Preserving the culture and heritage of the region is important for us to enhance Quinta Marugo’s charm. We kept the original “canas” (cane) roofs where possible, and the flooring was restored by the same craftsman who installed it 30 years ago.
Our furniture is built using sustainably sourced wood. Some of it, like the wood used for the bedside lamps and the outdoor tables, comes from trees that died on our property and have been given a second life.
